"Let me know" is a column for our readers' stories. We launch a survey every week and are waiting for your comments. The most interesting of them are included in articles and collections. Today we turn to the topic of mental health, and more specifically, to the role of a psychologist in it.
It is on him that the quality of therapy and the subsequent recovery of a person depends. However, it happens that this specialist has an insufficient level of competence and may behave unethically towards his visitors. Have you ever encountered something like this?
The story that once shocked me is connected with the "psychiatrist and psychotherapist" Sergey Kistenev. In the material Patients complained about sex correspondence with psychiatrist Sergey Kistenev / Such cases "Such cases" have comments from his patients. They say he asked them to send erotic photos and provoked sex correspondence.
Fortunately, I have never encountered such incompetence. But some of my clients do. Many recalled the traumatic experience of interacting with a school psychologist who stated: "You're just messing with nonsense. You don't have any problems." And then he passed on the details of the consultation to the class teacher, and the student's problems began to be discussed publicly. Some recalled how their problems were devalued during consultations, and they were shamed for their actions. One client said that a psychologist had set a condition for him to achieve a result as soon as possible. And when this did not work out, the specialist rudely and humiliatingly refused to cooperate, cutting off all contacts.
If you have had cases of incorrect psychological assistance, please tell us about them. Perhaps these stories will help people analyze their own experiences of going to specialists and find out what consultations should not look like.
