I bet that most of you will answer the question "is popcorn useful" unequivocally — this food is very high in calories and in general, what good it can be. I myself would have said so until yesterday evening, but after reading several articles from English-language sites, my opinion has changed.

Of course, not everything is as rosy as we would like, and for a start — a fly in the ointment. Popcorn in the cinema is really very high in calories, because it is made with the addition of butter. In addition, there are a lot of aromatic additives in such popcorn, but this is already harmful. However, there are so many useful substances in the grain itself that, I think, if you eat a cup on the weekend, it will only benefit.
If you want to regularly snack on popcorn, then here's a tip — choose grains without oil and additives and cook on the stove, not in the microwave. So you can either eat completely clean popcorn or, if desired, add a little good oil and salt.
Well, now about what the grains themselves are useful for.
1. Popcorn contains a huge amount of antioxidants, especially polyphenols. Polyphenols are also found in tea, olive oil, red wine, and chocolate.
2. There is a lot of fiber in popcorn. And, as you know, it has the most favorable effect on the digestive tract, and also contributes to weight loss.
3. Popcorn is a whole grain product, which means it contains a lot of vitamins and minerals.
4. All this in a complex: antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, prevents the development of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and tumors. Antioxidants also protect cells from destruction.
5. And finally, popcorn is just a light and very tasty snack!
