Before switching to Mac OS X, back when I was a Windows user, I used BlogJet and Windows Live Writer to write notes. When I became a switcher, the first thing I did was download Ecto, about which I heard many flattering words. However, in the end I didn't like the program because of the interface
Then I started looking for an alternative and soon found « in the person of» MarsEdit. The second version of this wonderful blog client was released recently. MarsEdit is used by Guy Kawasaki and John Gruber. This fact prompted me to get acquainted with the application.
The first thing I would like to note is an exceptionally simple and user—friendly interface. There is not that abundance of buttons, drop-down lists of commands that are often found and practically not used in Windows analogues.
One of my favorite features of MarsEdit is layout macros. you can use hotkeys to insert fragments of HTML text. I also liked that right in the program window you can set the slug used when forming the link.
MarsEdit has integration with Flickr, which makes it quite easy to insert photos. If you upload images to the server, then they can be viewed in the program directory. But in general, working with pictures in the program is not arranged in the best way. The main drawback is that MarsEdit does not know how to create sketches with preset sizes for large images.
A preview of the article deserves kind words in MarsEdit. You can use various filters (Textile, Markdown, etc.), you can edit the template. The program supports AppleScripts, which allows you to add some additional functions (for example, inserting the name of a song from iTunes into the text, counting statistics on the text (the number of characters, words in the article).

I really liked MarsEdit 2, I use this program daily. And which blog client do you like?
