A new Apple phone was announced at WWDC — iPhone 3G S. It will be delivered in two versions — with 16 and 32 GB. In the US, the cost will be $199 and $299, respectively. The "old" iPhone 3G will remain, they decided to sell it for $99. In Russia, sales of the iPhone 3G S will begin in August, the price is not yet known.
The new iPhone 3G S is quite different from its predecessor. It has a better camera (3 megapixels instead of two), a faster processor and support for OpenGL ES 2.0, which will improve 3D graphics. Processing web pages, viewing attachments, and running programs have become almost twice as fast.
The camera allows you not only to shoot video (with a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels), but also to edit it. The video can be sent by an MMS message or uploaded to YouTube and MobileMe.
Another novelty is voice control. You can say the name of a person, and the iPhone itself will dial the number and call, or name the song, album, playlist that you want to listen to. The iPhone will be able to "talk" to you in Russian, but most likely you will need to give commands in English.
Among other significant changes, it is worth noting the possibility of using the phone as a modem and a new service in MobileMe that shows the location of the phone and allows you to remotely destroy data (address book, messages, calendar events, etc.).
And that's not all. The iPhone 3G S has a new battery. It holds 30 hours of music playback, 10 hours of video, 12 hours of conversation on 2G networks or 9 hours of work with WiFi turned on.
