Today I would like to tell you an article from the Zen Habits blog that interested me. It's about our fears, and it interested me immediately after reading the epigraph: "Every time we choose safety, we increase fears,"Cherie Huber. The words seemed right to me, and that's what I decided to tell you:
Fear of what may happen — the burden imposed on us by our reason, animals are afraid only of what is happening at the moment, without looking into the ugly and not yet existing face of future troubles.
What kind of fears are holding us back, preventing us from turning around?
- fear of failure
- fear of being misunderstood and abandoned
- fear of intimacy
- fear of success
- fear of poverty
- fear of not living up to expectations
I think this is a typical set, but you can add it if you remember something of your own.
The author believes that the last point is the root of the whole tree of fears. We are afraid of not being good enough. And this fear, designed to keep us from doing stupid things, at the same time keeps us from trying to change our lives for the better. And therefore it would not hurt to understand how to overcome this fear. The tips are not new, but they are focused and useful.
- We must admit that it exists.
It is not necessary to reject the existence of what is. You can only fight with a real enemy.
- You should write it down.
As with cases, fixation will help not only to make fear less scary, but also to feel that you are in control of it. The author suggests crumpling this sheet and even trampling it.
- You should feel this fear.
Fears are natural. Do not be shy or afraid of the very feeling of fear.
- Ask yourself, what is so terrible that will happen in the worst case scenario?
Will you survive? Will you be healthy? Will you go broke or just not buy a new car? What will happen?
- Do the deed in spite of fear.
Cross the line. Step into the swirling stream and you will have no time to be afraid.
- Prepare for battle.
If you are a musician, and you are afraid to get into a puddle at an important performance, you only need to rehearse, rehearse and rehearse.
- Live in the moment.
The fear of failure is usually associated with the future. Don't think about it, just think about how best to dispose of this particular minute.
- You drive more quietly…
As with any change in life, it's better to bite off the pieces that you can swallow. Step by step, you will overcome all the fears that hinder you, but do not rush alone against their entire horde at once.
- Celebrate any success.
Having achieved the result, mark it so that both body and soul remember that success is wonderful.
