There will be a lot of videos in today's post. This is a selection for those who want to see with their own eyes the most diverse aspects of sailing: everyday moments, charter, sports. Not on commercials, but for real, with real people.
To begin with, a little drive. Children's yachting. Yes, yes, it exists. And in our country too. If you live in a city where there is a yacht club, ask if there is a children's section there. This is not just a sports club and an activity for a child (teenager) for the summer, in his spare time. This is a real sport, it's a hardening, useful skills, a theoretical base, and most importantly, it's a dream that tightens up more than computer games and dubious hangouts. The children in this video, on these funny, angular boats, are already real little athletes, they are already sick with sails. Children's regatta (start, highlights of the race, awarding), the most interesting in the middle:
And here's what serious yachting looks like for adults. A harsh race and frenzied adrenaline:
And now — the usual shots from the charter, for those who are planning a trip and do not want extreme at all. This is pure rest, relaxation. But there is no advertising gloss and gloss. Ordinary people on a rented sailing catamaran slowly walk along the shore and anchor in a place they like. It's a bit boring after sports passions, but if you imagine that you can be on board there, it will look much more fun:
What is in the residential part of the boat, how does the interior work in general? A short video on this topic, using the example of HANSE430, a popular charter model:
According to the keywords "sailing yacht interior/inside", you can find a lot of videos of this kind, but it is usually replete with advertising and extra text behind the scenes. I tried to choose a neutral option.
Are you interested in how yachts park? That is, they are moored. This may not be an easy task. From the outside, for a beginner, mooring usually looks easy and at ease, as in the video below. But in fact, it's more difficult than parking a car, since this is the case in twelve: imagine the volume of the yacht, inertia and the cost of repairing minor damage.
And finally — motivation in its purest form. There are many athletes in the world who can be admired, whose willpower and character can be envied, looking at them, you wonder at the capabilities of our body. One of these people, or rather, one is Helen MacArthur. Lady Helen MacArthur. This is a legend, a kind of icon for thousands of people, a great yachtswoman originally from Britain. A woman who circumnavigated the world alone and set a world record in 71 days. Imagine: alone on a yacht, ragged sleep for 2 hours a day, huge physical exertion, nerves, unforeseen circumstances, dangers, daily risk. The Ellen MacArthur film — The Official Record Breaking Story is available for download on various resources. Even without knowing English, it can be appreciated: recordings from a video camera on board make a very strong impression. Especially when you see Helen dead tired, in tears, almost broken, and then — again the struggle, animal efforts, survival, race, and in the end a luxurious finish. After such a film, I don't want to give up before some everyday difficulties and worry about the fact that the shoes rubbed my foot anymore. A fragment of a video with Helen MacArthur based on footage from the film, unfortunately, without translation:
Once you start talking about great yachtsmen, it's hard to stop. If the topic is interesting, I would like to prepare a separate article with a selection of the biggest names in the world of yachting and their brief biography.
Fair wind to all!
