The polarizing filter eliminates reflected light in photographs: solar glare, glare from non-metallic surfaces, and the glow of the sky.
With the use of a polarizing filter, the reflection on the surface of the water disappears:
On glass surfaces:
And even on the spines of books:
It also makes clear blue skies darker.:
A polarizing filter is used to remove the glare of the sun on the leaves of plants:
When using it, the picture on the computer screen disappears in the photo, because the LCD monitor emits polarized light:
The effect of using a polarizing filter depends on several points.
Firstly, from the rotation of the filter ring, that is, the adjustment of the degree of polarization. You need to adjust the filter every time you move the camera, because different frames require different degrees of polarization.
Secondly, it depends on the viewing angle. When shooting the sky, the effect will be noticeable only if you turn away from the sun by 90°. Otherwise, nothing will work.
Do not use a polarizing filter when shooting indoors or at night, as the filter blocks 50 to 75% of the light.
