The Austrian company Swarovski Optik has introduced the AX Visio smart binoculars, which combines high-precision analog optics with a neural processor powering an animal recognition system based on a 13-megapixel camera.

This gadget is aimed at zoologists, ornithologists and amateur naturalists who monitor the inhabitants of the wild.

AX Visio is able to recognize about 9,000 different animals and birds. You just need to select the appropriate mode on the switch, as on a camera, and point the binoculars at the object. Then, by pressing the button, the system recognizes the animal and indicates its type directly in the viewfinder.

The system works with the databases of bird and mammal identifiers Merlin Bird ID and Mammal ID database. The identified animal can be captured in a photo or video and saved to the Outdoor mobile app on a smartphone via Bluetooth, then to share with friends.

Other AX Visio settings allow you to activate the compass or mark objects in the field of view, so that, for example, you can pass the binoculars to a friend, who will then find the marked point using the directional arrows.

Famous Australian designer Mark Newson is responsible for the design and ergonomics of the device. He paid special attention to the modern appearance and intuitive controls.

Swarovski Optik AX Visio was shown at CES 2024, where an impressive price was announced — 4,600 euros (≈444,700 rubles).
