About a year and a half ago we wrote about a new browser based on Mozilla Firefox, which at that time was simply "unrealistically cool". Recently, "almost" version 1.0 has appeared, which has gained so much in basic functionality compared to previous versions that it is hard to believe. Those who have not seen Flock should understand that this is a rather "heavy" product for web 2.0 fans, which includes tools for working with the most popular services — Flickr, Twitter, Photobucket, YouTube, Facebook*, etc.
Due to the fact that the functionality of the browser is truly gigantic, I will try to tell you about its main "goodies":
- very good RSS reader — import/export of OMPL lists, many viewing modes (headings, headings + first paragraph, tile), reposting to your blog, subscribing to feeds from the viewed page;
- blog client, which supports many platforms and independent engines;
- tab "My World" — summary information on your most favorite sites, feeds, and viewed data from sites such as Flickr, YouTube, etc.;
- tab "People" is a panel that combines all your online contacts into one stream. From this tab, you can directly contact your "friends" from YouTube, Flickr, Facebook* and Twitter without going to the service's website;
- The media panel is the top panel that does amazing things. For example, by going to someone's photo on Flickr, you will see the full photo stream of this person in the panel, and you can sort the submitted photos by tags, sets, etc. This bar works for all Flock-supported media sites (YouTube, TruVeo, Facebook*, etc.);
- online bookmarks — Flock is able to store bookmarks both locally and on online services (del.icio.us and ma.gnolia);
- Web Clipboard is a tool that allows you to store any objects from the viewed pages in a global online clipboard. Saved data can be viewed and published to a blog.
- photo uploader in Flickr;
- …
Flock can be "inflated" with the help of special plugins if the basic functionality is not enough for you.
Don't you have Flock yet? Then rather download and enjoy!
