Irina Belozerova: 4 points that helped make my life better

More and more new people are responding to our call to send articles with your success stories! Yesterday, a letter with the story of Irina Belozerova came to the editorial office of Lifehacker. She tells how yoga, veganism and the ability to be grateful have changed her life for the better.

This year 2012 was marked by changes. Something changed by itself, I tried to work on something myself. But, definitely, it was a good year. Below I have listed the main factors that made it so:

Veganism

I finally became a vegan – I refused food, clothes and other things that are made of animals. And interestingly, as it turned out, my "courage to decide on such a thing" inspires people around. Not everyone, of course, but there are those to whom the ideas of humanity and humanity were also consonant. This transition to plant-based nutrition is important for me, it gives me some inner support, the logic of what I do. It's not logical to eat chicken and be touched by kittens. Everything fell into place for me this year.

Yoga

Yoga has entered my life this year too. First in the summer in Gorky Park. Now at home, quite often. And you know, the brain began to turn on "at once" in the morning. I opened my eyes and "click" – the brain is ready to work. It's so cool!

Caring for nature

Another separate garbage collection got up in my family on stream. We sort paper, plastic, cans and take them to recycling collection points. Have you seen a garbage island in the ocean? And a turtle, an adult, whose shell is divided into two parts by a ring from a plastic bottle? And I saw. And this alone is enough for me to motivate. And I go further – I tell my friends about these things, I prepare posters for neighbors, I will hang them on garbage chutes so that people at least think about the problems that garbage creates. As they say, if you want to change the world, change yourself.

Gratitude

It was also a year of gratitude. And I think that's the most important thing that happened to me. I write my thanks in a special notebook, I often thank you mentally, it's already becoming a habit. Thank you for everything that is happening – good and not so good. For the people who are next to me, helping me to become a better person. In general, for the fact that I can live and enjoy the dawn, the smell of cinnamon in New Year's cupcakes, the pleasure of communication, the opportunity to help someone in word or deed, for having health and strength to realize all dreams and plans! And so I want to convey to everyone – "People! Thank me more often! And you will feel better, you will see how your life is changing!".

In short, it was a great year! :)
