Popcorn Maker is an innovative online video editor developed by Mozilla. It should be noted right away that this is not an ordinary video editing program and it has a number of its own unique features. Firstly, this application is a web service and therefore works directly in the browser. Secondly, its main purpose is to integrate a variety of web content into your video, for example, links, texts, maps, images, and so on.
Thus, you can create a real interactive video presentation from your video, saturated with a variety of additional content. To make it clear to you what we are talking about, watch this short video created with Popcorn Maker.
The interface of the Popcorn Maker web application resembles a regular video editor in many ways. In the center there is a preview window, on the right there is a toolbar divided into several tabs, and from below we see a mounting tape on which we place the elements we need.
First of all, you need to open the Media tab and specify the video you want to edit. Integration with YouTube, Vimeo, Soundcloud or a link to any HTML5 video is supported. After that, open the +Events tab and you can start adding various interactive things to the clip that will make your video more informative.
Here we see elements such as plain text, a pop-up window, a map, a link to a Twitter feed, a picture, information from Wikipedia, and so on. In addition, there are several tools for controlling the playback progress, with which you can pause the video, skip a fragment or, conversely, make the desired piece repeat a given number of times.
Elements are added to the video by simply dragging to the mounting tape, where you can adjust the place of their appearance and the duration of the display with the mouse. By the way, the number of mounting tracks (here they are called Layers) is not limited and can easily be added by you. When you select any element in the mounting tape, a panel for configuring its properties will immediately appear.
After you have considered the work on your video finished, you can save it, but before that, do not forget to give it an original name. Now we move to the Share tab and see a direct link to your creation, as well as the code to insert into any web page.
The Mozilla-created online video editor Popcorn Maker is perfect for creating spectacular presentations, interactive reports, multimedia illustrations for articles, and just funny videos. With its help, you can add another information layer to an already existing video, allowing you to more fully convey your idea to the audience.
