Samsung showed Samsung brings new rugged Galaxy XCover7 smartphone and Tab Active5 tablet / GSMArena a couple of new secure gadgets. They are aimed primarily at business clients and work in harsh conditions, when equipment can easily fall, and they will use it with gloves.
Like last year's XCover 6 Pro, this is a mid-range smartphone, not a flagship one. The novelty received 5G support, a more powerful processor and a large screen, while maintaining a durable case with shock protection according to the MIL-STD-810H standard (the more familiar dust and moisture protection rating is IP68). The screen is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus+.
The list of features includes a 6.6-inch TFT screen with a resolution of FGD+ and a frequency of 60 Hz, an unnamed 6 nm chipset (SamMobile assumes Samsung’s new rugged Galaxy XCover 7 phone is official / SamMobile , that we are talking about the Dimension 6100+), 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. There is support for microSD up to 1 TB. The main camera is 50 MP, the front camera is 5 MP.
The battery capacity is 4,050 mAh, it is removable: you can put a new battery on the go and continue using your smartphone. Other features include a customisable XCover Key button, a Knox Capture barcode scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The weight of the smartphone is 240 grams, the dimensions are 169 × 80.1 × 10.2 mm.
Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 will go on sale before the end of January and will run on One UI 6 (Android 14) out of the box. The cost has not yet been disclosed, insiders reported a price tag of 400 euros.
The protection standards here are the same as in the smartphone: IP68 and MIL-STD-810H. The manufacturer claims that when used with a complete case, the tablet will survive a fall from a height of 1.8 meters. The glass on the screen is simpler than that of the XCover 7: it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which is more than seven years old.
The display itself is an 8-inch TFT with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels and a frequency of 120 Hz. The processor is not specified again, but SamMobile calls Samsung’s new rugged tablet, Galaxy Tab Active 5, hits the shelves this month / SamMobile the most likely candidate is the Exynos 1380 5nm chip. It is complemented by 6 or 8 GB of RAM, depending on the modification, built—in 128 or 256 GB. microSD support of up to 1 TB is available. The main camera is 13 MP, the front camera is 5 MP.
The 5,050 mAh battery is removable, and operation from a cable without a battery is supported. The dimensions of the tablet are 126.8 × 213.8 x 10.1 mm, weight — 433 grams (without cover).
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 will go on sale before the end of January and will run on One UI 6 (Android 14) out of the box. The expected price is 800 euros, like the Tab Active 4 Pro, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.
