When I started writing about the training program for preparing for Ironman, some readers expressed a desire to know about the progress and the results achieved. This is very important!  It is important to share with others your experience, knowledge and the results that they help to achieve. Therefore, I want to share with you what has changed in the last two months of training in the field of running. Facts, gentlemen, only facts!

The first run was on May 10. 5.5 km in 40 minutes. To say that "I wish I had died yesterday" is to say nothing. The pace was 7:17 min/km. And I managed to recover only half an hour after running.

July 16, 2013.

  • Today, the average running pace is 5:10 min/km.
  • The average distance per workout is 17 km.
  • The average running time per workout is 1:40 min.
  • The racing pace for an hour is 4:40 min/km.
  • Half Ironman running distance (21.2 km) — 1:42 h.
  • The maximum distance is 27 km.
  • The maximum running time is 2:30 h.
  • The maximum running speed is 26.12 km/h.
  • In the first month, the number of workouts per week is 6.
  • Currently, there are 3 running workouts per week.
  • 3 km is a warm–up run.

Please note that the training program, among other things, assumes restriction on pace, time, etc.

Here are the results for the first 2 months. The pledge of the achieved results:

  • A training program developed based on the recommendations of the Triathlete's Bible.
  • Exercises for the development of running techniques.
  • Strict adherence to the program and strict discipline.
  • Enhanced nutrition.
  • Continuous analysis of the results obtained.  Adjustment of the program based on the analysis.
  • The ability to rejoice in every victory, even the smallest one.
  • An unrestrained desire to achieve the goal of becoming an Iron Man.

I hope these figures will show you that the goal is real – you just have to want and thoughtfully approach the process of achieving it.

I'm still very far away (years!) to such famous triathletes as Craig Alexander and Chris McCormack... but I can already see their backs ahead, which means that someday I will catch up and run alongside. And then I'll overtake.
