Microsoft Edge, the standard browser in Windows 10 and 11, is used by many users exclusively for downloading Chrome. And this upsets Microsoft so much that it constantly comes up with new tricks so that users do not switch to a competitor's solution. Another attempt to keep the audience surpassed all the previous ones.
Now, when you try to install Chrome using Edge Canary, two banners are displayed in the browser. The first, small, appears on the screen when you go to the Google website, and the second, already the full width of the screen, is displayed after the page loads.
A large banner states that Edge uses the same technologies as Chrome, but with "additional Microsoft trust".
In fairness, it should be noted that Microsoft is not the only one who practices questionable things to increase the user base. Google also shows banners to promote Chrome, but they only appear on the company's resources. Google does not advertise on the Firefox website and does not shout whenever you want to load another browser.
