Added to WhatsApp messenger for iOS WhatsApp’s custom sticker maker on iOS is here to spice up your chats / The Verge the ability to create your own stickers and edit existing ones.

To turn a picture or photo into a sticker, just open a chat with any user, go to the stickers section and click on the "+" icon. After that, the image gallery on the device will open. Select the image you want to make a sticker from.

The application will offer two options for cropping: with or without a background. The more complex the background, the more likely it is that you will not be able to remove it carefully. You cannot edit the selection. You can add text, a drawing, or another sticker to the cropped image. When everything is ready, click on the send icon.

In addition to creating your own stickers, you can edit existing ones. To do this, click on the sticker in the correspondence or saved sticker packs and select "Change sticker". This will open the same editor as when creating the sticker, only without cropping options. When you are done, the sticker will be sent to the selected chat and saved in the recently sent ones.

The stickers created by users will be marked with the "WhatsApp Sticker Creator" bar. You will not be able to collect them in a sticker pack, but you can save them to your favorites to use in the future. They will also be available in the list of recently sent stickers.

Currently, the feature is only available in the web version of WhatsApp and on iPhone with iOS 17. Whether it will appear on Android is still unknown.
