The "Spam" folder, which was announced at the I/O 2023 conference, was added to the sidebar "Google Drive". Sorting of unwanted files appeared 20 years after the launch of the service.
Now spam filters are working in the "Disk", which automatically qualify the content. You can also manually send any file to a new folder. This works by analogy with emails in Gmail.
The update will not only automatically clean up the file sharing, but also limit the ability of random people to add files to your account without your consent or control. Thanks to this, the service will become more secure.
Previously, the general content in Google Drive was not checked in any way, as a result, many users could find other people's photos or even porn, various advertisements, and so on. All that could be done in such a situation was to turn off notifications and ignore the "Shared Files" folder. Now the service should automatically send this kind of content to "Spam".
