Today, the recently updated Xtorrent is coming under the firing squad of p2p clients. Just want to draw the attention of readers to one important point — this torrent client is not free. And this fact already in the first lines of my review makes it less attractive. However, let's go deeper and look at it in more detail.
The program has a very nice and cute interface. Two panels: navigation on the left, search results and current downloads on the right. Such simplicity and non-congestion make it convenient and attractive.
Xtorrent is very rich in settings and all sorts of features. To change the settings without delving into the subtleties of torrent’ and it's very simple — everything is done for the user. There is integration with iTunes, iPod support, you can subscribe to rss feeds, you can automate the sorting of downloads (however, as in any other similar program). And yet, despite the abundance of these features, I find Xtorrent not the best choice.
Of course, I did not buy the full version for review, but only downloaded a demo version for a test drive on the official website. Of course, it comes with some limitations. The annoying window constantly prevents you from buying and activating a license. After an hour of using the program, the speed limit is turned on by 10 kbps. And now I want to draw your attention to some negative points.
The results of the torrent search are not quite relevant to the queries. But in contrast to this point, there is an automatic sorting of results by the type of content found.
I absolutely cannot understand why the developer added more tabs for search results in Google and Yahoo. And this already makes the torrent client look like a torrent combine.
When I put some file to download for the first time, a window pops up with a questionable question. Like, is the content I download authorized?
And one more minus should be noted. The program is based on the libtransmission library. Unfortunately, I can't say anything intelligible about her. However, I know that it is she who is the reason for the ban on many torrent trackers.
Well, summing up, we can draw the following conclusions. The program is really nice and easy to use. However, the presence of several factors spoil the overall picture. If you buy software because of the interface and simplicity, then Xtorrent is out of competition. But it is quite possible to find a decent and free analogue.
