"Meditation", David Simonds

On the streets of Thiruvannamalai in India, a market trader takes a break, and with him his hardworking cow.

"Horse Racing", Scott Barbour

General view during the fourth race. Melbourne Cup, Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne, November 5, 2019.

"The Red-legged Seagull bathes", Simon Running

This young seagull had a wonderful time taking a bath and splashing water in all directions. Due to the fact that it was light enough for a short exposure, I managed to "freeze the water", so that the bird's head can be seen through the halo of spray.

"Timid", Ilan Wittenberg

This portrait is part of the series "From Here to Africa — the Maasai People".

"Taranaki Volcano Eruption", Lori Winter

Laurie Winter / courtesy of Sony Alpha Awards

The Milky Way rises above the Taranaki volcano on a cold May evening. The first photo I took after I was quarantined for more than two months, and then I was restricted in my movements. What could be better than this image of nature to understand how lucky we are? Eight photos are superimposed.

"Pelican Owner", Tony Lowe

The photo was taken in the city of Entrance, New South Wales, Australia.

"Contours of icebergs", Rob Ware

Rob Weir / courtesy of Sony Alpha Awards

Filmed in East Greenland. It depicts a part of a large iceberg, a small floating piece of ice and its reflection.

"On Vienna Street", Gary White

Gary White / courtesy of Sony Alpha Awards

A street scene in Vienna, filmed just before the dog broke off the leash and made a mess.

"Golden Glow — Annapurna South, Nepal", Jesse Little

Arriving at the last point for sunrise, we, to our disappointment, found that due to the morning fog, visibility is zero. When we were already beginning to joke about the trivial end of our incredible 18-day journey, the clouds parted, letting in a magnificent golden light that illuminated Annapurna South.

"Whisper", Alex Alguin

Alex Olguin / courtesy of Sony Alpha Awards

The bride and groom retire for a moment among a room full of guests. Although such moments last only a few seconds, the words spoken in a whisper will remain in the memory forever.
