Despite positioning as a device from an affordable price segment, the design of the Moto M is much more attractive than what Lenovo released earlier. Unlike the flagship Moto Z, although it has support for replaceable modules, the novelty looks more complete and holistic.
The all-metal body of the device, separated only by thin inserts of antennas, makes it possible to doubt its Asian origin, causing a feeling of something premium. However, this impression instantly disappears, one has only to look at the Moto M "under the hood".The smartphone is equipped with an 8-core Helio P15 processor from MediaTek and a Mali-T860 graphics accelerator. The amount of RAM is 4 GB, and the permanent memory is 32 GB with expandable microSD cards.
Special mention should be made of the protection against water and dust getting inside the case, as well as the lightning-fast fingerprint scanner. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with support for fast charging and Dolby Atmos technologies.
The Achilles' heel of the Moto M is the version of the operating system under which it runs. Last year's "Marshmallow", although it does not look obsolete, is clearly unsuitable for devices of the end of 2016. Even the budget Moto G of the fourth generation, introduced a few months earlier, has already received a "Nougat".
A fairly mediocre set of specifications at a cost of $ 290 does not allow you to invent a scenario in which the Moto M becomes a candidate for purchase. For about the same money, Xiaomi offers a glass-metal Mi 5 model based on the Snapdragon 820 processor. What to choose is up to you.
