Undoubtedly, the takeover of Google by Alphabet holding, created by the same Sergey Brin and Larry Page, has become the most discussed news of this week. The vacant CEO position in the Internet giant was taken by Sundar Pichai, the creator of Chrome and the head of the Android division. The editorial board of "Makradar" has collected everything you need to know about the new head of Google, about whom you might never even have heard.

Sundar was born in Tamil Nadu, one of the 29 Indian states. He received his bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, where he turned out to be the best student during the existence of the institute. Then he graduated from Stanford with a master's degree and received an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. During his studies, he was awarded Sibel and Palmer grants.

Before becoming part of Google, Pichai worked as an engineer at Applied Materials and in management consulting at McKinsey & Company. In 2004, he became Vice president of Product Management at Google, overseeing the development of the Google Chrome browser and the accompanying Chrome OS operating system.

Soon, other developments responsible for search, including Google Toolbar, Desktop Search and Google Gear, will be added to the list of Sundar's projects. After the successful launch of the browser in September 2008 and the OS a year later, Pichai adds another division of the company to his portfolio. After the head of Google Apps, Dave Girouard, leaves the post to create his own company Upstart, Sundar takes his place.

A year later, after Andy Rubin left the post of head of the Android division, these powers also pass to Pichai. During his work, he has earned a reputation as a person who flawlessly manages complex projects, creating a strong team around him.

He hired and retained a great team. He was a mentor to them. His product managers were the best of the best, as were software developers engaged in improving the quality of search.

Sundar did not make enemies, but used the company's policy to make his team more successful, and anyone else to cause as little damage as possible. He demonstrated his dedication to his team while working under the leadership of Marissa Mayer, who at that time held a key executive position at Google. Sundar waited for several hours at her office to make sure that she would appreciate the work of his team.

In addition to his ability to manage a team, Pichai was also able to make strong-willed decisions on behalf of the company when it was necessary. So, at one of the annual CES exhibitions, he informed the head of Samsung's mobile division about Google's refusal to sign a partnership agreement for the release of mobile devices.

Sundar's impressive resume made representatives of the social network Twitter pay attention to him. They received an offer to head one of the divisions, but Pichai refused it. The journalists' claims about the leadership position at Microsoft after Steve Ballmer's departure were also not confirmed — Sundar remained loyal to his company.

Last October, Larry Page announced plans to focus on a "more global picture." This separation of the Google co-founder from management provoked another batch of rumors in which Pichai foreshadowed more powers. He, in turn, took responsibility for the main products: search, maps, Google+, Android, Chrome, infrastructure, Google Apps, commerce and advertising. Given this, Larry Page's subsequent statement in a recent open letter was quite predictable.

Since October last year, he has moved far ahead. He is responsible for our products and the technical component of the Internet business. Sergey and I are delighted with the progress he has made and his dedication to the company. Therefore, we had no doubts about the appointment of Sundar to the position of CEO of Google. I was very lucky that I managed to find such a talented person who can be safely held responsible for the development of the "reduced version" of Google.

Now Sundar is 43 years old, his salary is $ 50 million dollars a year, he has two children and a wife, who, according to him, played an important role on his path to success. He is a talented leader and visionary who knows how to create great products and unite the best of the best around him. This is the CEO that Google deserves.
