While Android phones continue to break records in screen diagonals, Apple has quietly settled on the 4-inch size of the displays of its mobile devices. But this does not mean that Cupertino is not going to increase iPhone screens in the future — on the contrary, according to Wall Street Journal reports, Apple is testing 6-inch screens.

Here's what the WSJ journalists write:

Next week, Apple is preparing to unveil its new flagship model, the 5S, and the more budget-friendly 5C. But apart from them, Apple is working on something else.

Cupertino is evaluating the possibility of installing screens with a diagonal of 4.8-6 inches on the next generation of iPhones. If this really happens, it will be a major leap compared to the iPhone 5's 4-inch display and the diagonal of future iPhones will be one of the largest on the market.

Apparently, Infinite Loop is changing its strategy for smartphones and they are trying to find a new driver for successful competition with Samsung, which has greatly intensified recently.

It is not completely clear whether Apple will really release devices with such large screens or not. After all, testing different screens is quite a common phenomenon for a company like Apple, which is trying to find the optimal size for its devices.

On the other hand, the release of the so-called phablet from Apple next year is also confirmed by reports from China, judging by which Apple is already starting to order the necessary components from suppliers.

In general, we can only wait for official confirmations and announcements, but all this will not happen earlier than in a year. Apple has not yet had time to introduce the new iPhone, while journalists are already finding information about the next generation of the Apple smartphone.

And what size of the iPhone screen seems to you the most optimal? Was 3.5 inches enough for you on older iPhone models? Leave your answers in the comments.
