We all know what procrastination is. This terrible word, similar to the name of the disease, is an innate art of postponing important things for later. At the moment, there are at least seven billion ways to deal with procrastination, and here I offer you another one.
The method is simply called — all for five minutes. I describe it step by step:
1) Make a list of all the things you don't want to do. You will get a real procrastination. It will be the basis of our future work. The order of affairs is unimportant.
2) Take some kind of alarm clock — mechanical, electronic or computer.
3) Find an hour during the day when you will not be distracted by business, messages and other things.
4) Set the timer for five minutes, press the Start button (or whatever you call it) and start doing the first thing from the list. Don't get distracted by anything, just concentrate and do it.5) After the alarm sounds «dzyyyyn» put aside the case and occupy yourself with something for a couple of minutes, for example, get up and walk, read, make the right phone call.
6) Go back to item (4), but do the second thing from the list.
7) After you have done everything or an hour has passed, put down the list, mentally congratulate yourself on your victory and have a good rest. Congratulations, the first step in the fight against procrastination has been taken.
The next time you decide to start solving unpleasant problems, set the timer not for five, but for ten minutes (and add five minutes each next time). Very soon you will get used to solving your procrastination (my God, what a word) cases with a list and with a timer — soon they will not scare you so much.
