Firefox: speed up your work without reinstalling

Firefox users notice that sometimes their favorite browser starts working slower and slower for no apparent reason, or starts using up to 90% of the computer's RAM. Deleting many extensions, cookies and temporary files will not help. We don't know why this happens, but we can tell you how to solve this problem.

A simple creation of a new profile will help us:
1. Launch Firefox and save the browser bookmarks as a separate file on your hard disk (if you still store them in the browser).
2. On the command line (in Windows: Start/StartRun/Execute) type «firefox.exe –P», as shown in the screenshot:

command line

3. Click the Create Profile button/Create a Profile without making any changes to an existing one (by default – default).

create profile

Now if you start working in Firefox under a new profile, you will be pleasantly surprised by the speed. If necessary, move the bookmarks (see point 1). Of course, the new profile will not have all the extensions that were in the old one, but the issue of slowing down will be resolved.

Naturally, if you wish, you can return to your old profile at any time in the same way.

(from LH: note that many users, in order to speed up Mozilla Firefox, install the Restart Firefox addon in combination with the FreeRamXP program for manual cleaning of RAM)
