The Ministry of Finance has developed a bill obliging the American company Apple to allow applications to be installed on its devices from third-party marketplaces, and not only from the App Store. About this writes "Interfax".

According to the head of the department Maksut Shadaev, the project is already ready and it can be submitted to the State Duma in the spring session. He considers Apple a "bona fide company" that will agree to comply with the new standards. And he stressed that the corporation continues to work in the Russian market and "supply us with applications", unlike the same Google.

I believe that this is just a confirmation that the company is ready to faithfully comply with the requirements of Russian legislation and continue working in the market.

Last year, the European Union adopted a similar law called the Digital Markets Act (DMA). It obliges IT companies to open their platforms to third-party developers and provides for a fine of 20% of the violator's annual turnover. In this regard, Apple plans to allow the installation of applications from other marketplaces, but only in the EU. The option will appear already in iOS 17, previously reported authoritative insider Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.
