It is no secret that a well-fed and peaceful Europe, and the rest of the civilized world, have made their way to the present state through the wildest wars in their ruinousness and absurdity. And, basically, the pace of progress is visible in weapons and skill to kill their own kind. Devote an hour of your time to The Wars game and you, starting with the Cro-Magnon battles, will get to modern warfare through the Middle Ages.
The Wars game is alarming for its simplicity in technical terms — the creators managed pixel graphics. But with its playability and interest, it shuts "Terminators" with "Nidfospids" under the belt.
The essence of the game is that there are two fortresses — yours and the enemy's. Hordes go brother to brother and just wet each other. You can build different units, increase the tiering of the tower, as well as the number and lethality of the weapons fixed on it and, most importantly!, make temporary upgrades. I.e. from primitive people to knights, from knights to ... well, I won't spoiler.
