During the Rock and Roll event held last week, Apple pleased visitors with new announcements, and Steve Jobs with his presence and performances. However, not everyone was satisfied. Especially upset were the users who expected that the camera would appear in the new iPod Touch — did not appear, but the filling in it turned out to be completely updated.
After the announcement of new products, the first devices began to fall into the hands of users. Moreover, some individuals were happy to take them apart — it turned out to be the guys from iFixit. During, as they call this process, the demonstration of "iron porn", a number of interesting facts were revealed. The most interesting of them says that the camera in the iPod Touch 3G still had to be or will be, but in future devices of this series. In any case, there is a seat for it. It is located between the Broadcom chip and the antenna. The dimensions of the seat are 6x6x3 mm — this is not enough to integrate such a photo module as in the iPhone 3GS, but it is enough for a miniature video camera from the iPod Nano 5G.
By the way, despite the similarity of platforms and the CPU, Apple's new media player turned out to be more technologically advanced than the iPhone 3GS. The latter uses the Broadcom BCM4325 wireless module, which supports Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g standards, while the iPod Touch 3G uses the more advanced Broadcom BCM4329 chip, which supports Wi-Fi 802.11n and an FM transceiver. Despite the fact that Apple has not advertised this yet, in future firmware it may well activate the possibility of high-speed data transmission over the air and listening to FM broadcasts.
