Youtuber Mrwhostheboss decided to perform an unusual quest: to collect all the significant generations of Apple laptops and launch them. Such a collection cost him 30 thousand dollars, and the output turned out to be a video full of nostalgia for old computers.
The video begins with the 1989 Macintosh Portable. This is not quite a laptop yet — rather a massive monoblock, to which input devices and a carrying handle have been added. But the next model, the PowerBook 100, released in 1991, resembles modern models much more. Apple itself did not pull such a transition: Sony was engaged in production.
Two more major PowerBook updates followed, until in 1999 Apple showed the iBook, a more budget—friendly laptop in a translucent case. In 2001, however, the PowerBook returned again — with the G4 model, which looks like a MacBook, although too thick by modern standards. It is also the first model with a metal case — and the progenitor of the MacBook Pro line.
The first MacBook was shown in 2006, and the first MacBook Pro was released in the same year. And the iconic MacBook Air was released later, only in 2008. And since then, all three lines have been developing in parallel, becoming more powerful and more compact every year.
