We continue the series of reviews of websites for runners. In the previous parts, we reviewed the products of such famous brands as Adidas and Nike.Today's patient does not have such a famous name, but this is only at first glance. If you dig well into the pedigree of the Sports Tracker service, it turns out that it is a direct relative of the notorious Nokia.
The Sports Tracker service is designed to monitor, collect and save a variety of statistics about your running, cycling or walking activities. Initially, the service was developed under the tutelage of the Finnish mobile giant Nokia, but then something did not work out and the Fins announced the closure of the project. However, the developers were not going to give up and went on an independent voyage. As it is clear from this story, Sports Tracker is designed primarily to work on the Symbian platform. However, more recently, an entry about the appearance of a client for the iPhone appeared on the company's blog. In the near future, they promise to please the owners of devices running Android.
After installing the client on your mobile device, it will become your indispensable companion in jogging, walking and cycling. During all these events, the mobile application will carefully collect information about the kilometers traveled, the pace of movement, the route, and if you have taken care of purchasing a special Polar sensor, then also about the heart rate. After the end of the workout, all data is sent to the Sports Tracker website.
The service's website is made just great. Statistical data can be viewed in a variety of ways — linked to a map, graphs, tables, achievements, data for a week or month, and so on. Moreover, all this looks very attractive and works without brakes.
The social component in Sports Tracker is also present. In the Explore section, you can see in real time where the service members are running, driving or walking on planet Earth. You can also invite friends to compete, monitor their sports results, upload and view photos taken during jogging.
So, let's summarize.
Among the advantages of the service, I would attribute an excellent design, ample opportunities for displaying and analyzing statistics, and the presence of a client for Symbian. There are also enough disadvantages — lack of Russification, inability to plan and set goals, lack of training plans. Nevertheless, if you have a Nokia smartphone, then you need to take a look at this service.
