We have all heard from our parents or grandmothers sayings that then accompanied us through life for a long time, or maybe we continue to believe in them to this day! You probably remember this: "don't sit close to the TV, you'll go blind", "eat carrots, you'll have good eyesight", "don't crack your fingers — the cones will grow"… And we tried to follow these tips to avoid any horrors in the future. However, some of them are not justified by anything. We will tell you about them in our post.
1. Chocolate causes pimples
No product causes acne (there may be allergic rashes), although moderation is still needed. Too much with any food is not very good for the body.
2. Eat carrots — you will have good eyesight
You can turn yellow from carrots, but still not get rid of glasses. And not even prevent the deterioration of vision.
3. If you crack your fingers, you'll get arthritis
One enthusiastic person specially conducted an experiment and snapped the fingers of one hand for many years. Bottom line: both his hands are exactly the same, he has not earned arthritis.
4. Eating spicy food can cause ulcers
Spicy food can become a strong irritant if you already have an ulcer, but does not cause it.
5. If you touch a toad, there will be warts
No. Warts appear due to the presence of a certain virus in the human body. Toads have nothing to do with it.
6. If you drink coffee, you will stop growing
Children really shouldn't drink coffee, but it has nothing to do with growth.
7. Don't squint your eyes to the nose — you will remain cross-eyed
Variations: if you squint your eyes and hit the back of your head, you will remain cross-eyed. It is unclear why in childhood we all like to squint our eyes to the bridge of our nose. But the truth is that it does not cause strabismus.
8. If you have a cold, you need to eat well, but you should not eat at a temperature
Neither one nor the other is wrong. You can not deprive the body of nutrients: if you feel hungry, you should eat even at a temperature. But it's not worth shoving food into yourself just because you have a cold and need to eat.
9. You can't swim after eating
The question is moot. After a hearty meal, any sports activity is contraindicated, it will have a bad effect on digestion. But there will be no cramps associated with the fact that you have just eaten, for sure. Therefore, after a not too plentiful meal, it is quite possible to swim.
Have you learned in this post the sayings that you have heard for a long time? Do you tell your children something like that?
