The Meta* blogadded that the headset has become more compact, has "higher resolution and better performance." Quest 3 uses Meta Reality technology, which makes it "easy to combine the physical world with the virtual."
The device received two RGB color cameras with a resolution of 4 MP, a depth sensor for a more accurate display of the game space and "a 10-fold increase in pixels in Passthrough compared to Quest 2".
Touch Plus controllers have been given a more streamlined and ergonomic shape. And the external tracking rings were abandoned, so the device now takes up less space.
There are also tactile TruTouch effects. Hand tracking will be supported out of the box, so it will be possible to use the headset without controllers (thanks to the Direct Touch function, which allows interaction with virtual objects using only hands).
Quest 3 is compatible with the Quest 2 catalog, which includes more than 500 VR games and applications. The gadget has 128 GB of memory, but there is also a version with an additional drive.
Quest 3 is expected to go on sale in the fall and will cost $ 500 (≈41,000 rubles). The company will tell you more about the device on September 27, 2023 at the Connect presentation.
