This material will open a series of articles about the most interesting network conferences, channels and other sources of relevant information about the modern world, offered in the format of video clips. Pros and cons, explanations, and, of course, relevant links — all this is waiting for you. Stay tuned!

PopTech is a popular American free conference, positioning itself as a competitor to the famous TED. Every year, about 600 speakers gather in the opera hall of the small town of Camden in order to tell the world about the most interesting technological and near-technological news and events. Based on the results of the presentations, a team of twenty speakers is selected, which travels around the world with reports at the expense of sponsors.

We can observe the reports by watching their videos. Vimeo hosting is used to show videos, and the videos themselves are mostly presented in HD format, which is good news. But those who do not know English may well be upset — the Vimeo player does not allow the possibility of parallel playback of subtitles, so you will have to watch in the original language. The average duration of the video is 20-22 minutes, but there are performances for both 7 and 40 minutes.

The videos can be viewed both on the conference website and on the corresponding channel on Vimeo (I do not advise subscribing to the RSS feed — then the videos will come to you in large bundles of 10-15 pieces, and it will not be very convenient for you to watch them). On the site, however, you will be able to sort videos by categories and tags. iTunes fans can subscribe to a video podcast (of course, in HD) and an audio podcast (which is similar to a video, but without it, excuse the pun).

You need to understand that unlike TED, a ticket for which costs several thousand dollars, PopTech is a completely free conference, which, however, does not affect the quality of the reports — they are all exceptionally pleasant and interesting. I advise you to watch videos on PopTech along with TED videos — for me, such an informative video has become a great replacement for TV series and programs on zomboyashchik.

And finally, a speech by Elizabeth Dinn, who will talk about how money affects happiness (and vice versa).
