I always want to know a lot and be able to. Especially often I hear from my friends and acquaintances that they would like to improve their English. Yes, I often think about it myself. And, of course, it is desirable that the learning process is not too time- and money-consuming. The way out in this case is independent learning with the help of programs and services, which have recently appeared quite a lot. But there is a problem here — not everyone has enough willpower to study, lessons seem boring.
Today I came across an application for iPhone/iPad that offers classes in a very simple, entertaining form — language courses "English from De Agostini". The application itself is free, but for each lesson, except for a few, you need to pay a certain amount. I have tested the free lesson from A1 level so far and was satisfied.
Each lesson is dedicated to one topic. The main thing in the lesson is a video clip (an episode of a sitcom) on some topic. The first one is dedicated to dating and is aimed at studying common phrases at first meetings (greeting, where did you come from, where do you live, how old are you).
There are several control points in the video, where it is desirable to stop in order to study some separate section in more detail, for example, numerals, to do an exercise on it. This way the material will be better absorbed. However, you can walk through these points after watching the video.
If you think that the first lesson is too easy for you, then take the initial test. After completing several tasks, the application will tell you which lesson and from which level is best suited for you. Don't buy for luck, choose only what you really need. Levels in the app: Elementary, High Elementary, Low Intermediate, Intermediate.
On the main page of the application, you can see the following sections:
1. Grammar
Very logical — in this section you can read the rules. The rules are opened only for purchased lessons.
2. Actions
Here are all the exercises. Also, respectively, only to the lessons purchased.
3. Dictionary in pictures
In this section you can find "material" additions to the lessons. For example, a menu is attached to the lesson about breakfast, of course, in English. This section is intended for a more complete immersion in the topic under study.
4. Dictionary
There are more than 70,000 words in the dictionary, just use the search to find what you need.
The application leaves a pleasant impression. It seems that learning English in this way is absolutely easy, but on the contrary, it is very fun. What can be difficult about watching one funny video in the evening, and then doing a couple of exercises. And the benefits of this will be noticeable very soon. This language learning option is especially suitable for those who want to improve their spoken language.
