At the Google I/O conference, the second beta version of Android 14 was presented. Unlike the first one, which was compatible only with the current Google Pixel, the second one adds support for Google partners. These are nine companies: OPPO, iQOO, Realme, Lenovo, Tecno, Nothing, Vivo and Xiaomi.
Like the first beta, this update is aimed primarily at developers. It is not recommended for ordinary users to install it because of potential bugs that can affect the daily use of the device. However, in the second version, the most critical errors have already been fixed.
Android 14 adds support for HDR when recording video, as well as Ultra HDR to preserve the full dynamic range of images. This should give more opportunities for post-processing photos.
Another innovation was the ability to shoot with a longer shutter speed in order to get high-quality photos in low light. The update also offers more detailed control over the data when transmitting geolocation. For audiophiles, Lossless audio support has been added when using USB headphones. We wrote about other innovations in a separate article.
