Microsoft will forcibly update computers with an outdated version of Windows 10

Microsoft has sent out warnings to users of Windows 10 version 21H2. This update was released back in November 2021, and its support period ends on June 13. This means that updates will no longer be released on this version of the system — including critical security patches.

To protect users and increase the security of their devices, Microsoft will launch a forced upgrade to Windows 10 22H2. This applies to the "Home", "Professional", "Pro for educational institutions" and "Pro for workstations" versions.

Microsoft does not specify when exactly the forced update starts. On June 13, 21H2 will receive the last monthly security update — probably soon after that, and we should expect a forced update.

Users of computers that are compatible with Windows 11 are recommended to upgrade to a new version of the system instead of updating Windows 10.

Earlier, Microsoft announced that 22H2 will be the last version of Windows 10, and its support will continue until October 2025.
