Swiss company Proton introduced Proton Mail finally gets a desktop app for encrypted email and calendar / The Verge Proton Mail desktop application that includes mail and calendar. In the future, it will allow users to view emails offline.
Technically, this can be done in the browser version, but you need to configure various bridges. The new client will save users from unnecessary actions.
The feature will allow you to view and create emails during travel, power outages or in any other situation when you do not have Internet access. But sending and encrypting in offline mode will not be possible.The company also introduced automatic mail forwarding while maintaining end-to-end encryption. However, this option is available only to paid subscribers and only when exchanging with other Proton users.
The desktop application is optimized for Windows and macOS. The beta version is already available to a small group of users. The launch for all is scheduled for early 2024.
