Those who use both mail and Google's im client know that if you exchange a couple of email messages with another Gmail user, Google Talk will automatically add him to your contacts list. Yes, it is possible to disable this behavior of Google Talk, and we will tell you how to do it. However, this is not set by default, which as a result leads to an expansion of the list of not always familiar and desired contacts.
You can try to go by deleting each contact separately, but with a large number of them, this can take a lot of time. Therefore, we offer another option – to delete all contacts from Google Talk at one time without losing them in Gmail.
To do this, you need:
1) Export all existing Gmail contacts to a CSV file (Address Book / Contacts ->Export / Export ->GmailCSV)
2) Go back to the Address book (Contacts) and select in itAll Addresses (All Contacts). At the bottom of the page, select All (All) and click Delete (Delete) – this will also delete all contacts from Google Talk
3) Import back all Gmail contacts from the CSV file created in step 1 (Address Book / Contacts ->Import /Import ->GmailCSV)
Now turn off automatic addition.
Go to Gmail and go to Settings (Settings), then select the Chat tab (Chat) and in the sectionAutomatically add suggested addresses (Auto-add suggested contacts) we set Allow access only to those users who I allow to chat with me and see my presence on the Internet (Only allow people that I’ve explicitly approved to chat with me and see when I’m online). Saving the changes.
After that, you will be able to add only those users that you really want to see in the Google Talk contact list.
