What should I do if a dog bites me?
Anonymous
Previously, Lifehacker published detailed material on this topic. Here's what you need to do first:
- Clamp the bleeding wound with a dressing material, a clean towel or any other cloth. If the blood doesn't stop after 15 minutes, call an ambulance.
- If the blood has stopped, rinse the wound thoroughly with soap under running water and cover with a clean bandage. Keep the bitten arm or leg above the level of the heart. This way you will reduce the swelling around the wound and the likelihood of infection spreading.
- Contact the emergency room as soon as possible. The doctor will examine and treat the wounds, examine the bones and joints, if necessary, make an X-ray and ultrasound. And, of course, will be engaged in the prevention of rabies and tetanus.
