Despite the fact that more and more people choose remote work because of their beliefs, we all have to face teamwork sooner or later, because a serious project cannot be raised alone. This is exactly the kind of teamwork that today's note is dedicated to.
To increase the effectiveness of teamwork, I suggest considering the following rules:
- Take the time at the beginning to discuss both the tools and procedures of the work. It is worth immediately deciding how and what the work will be done, so that unexpected surprises in the form of lost tasks or incompatible formats do not arise later.
- Illustrate the benefits of teamwork. What exactly will be good if everyone finishes their work on time, or even earlier? Customer satisfaction may not always be sufficient motivation for the group. Tell us what they will personally win – a bonus, a day off, a gift, what?
- Always clarify any ambiguities. Not all people will immediately accept your position, or even the position of the whole group on any of the issues. They may consider the chosen tool unsuccessful, for example. Show why the tool is chosen, what it gives you and him, and you will almost certainly get consent. Eliminate any ambiguities as early as possible.
- Make your goals accessible. Show your goals for the day, week, month. Show how you go to them, it motivates all participants and allows you to see who is working and who is preparing a spoon for lunch.
