Microsoft at the Build 2023 conference talked about a serious redesign of the Explorer. The application is waiting for "modernization with modern visual effects corresponding to the rest of Windows 11".
This announcement confirms recent rumors that in the latest version of the file manager, the company will finally switch to the WinUI 3 interface style and optimize the application for both mouse and touch input.
The new design will have more rounding, as well as blur and transparency effects. The view of the buttons and the search bar, the view of files and folders, the information area and links will change. Everything will be updated in accordance with the modern Microsoft design language.
The company first updated Explorer in Windows 11 in 2021, refreshing the header area, and then added tabs in 2022. Everything that was below the title was practically not changed, and this fresh redesign aims to fix it.
