The green light was given to the painting ‘Highlander’ Will Be ‘John Wick’ Director Chad Stahelski’s Next Feature as part of a massive new agreement that Stahelski and Lionsgate announced on Tuesday. Chad will now have full control of both franchises, Highlander and John Wick, with full creative freedom.
Henry Cavill will play the main role in the reinterpretation of the 1986 film of the same name, in which Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown played immortals who have to fight to gain more power.
From the very beginning, Chad has been a creative force defining the world of Wick; as we continue to think about the future of this franchise, we want Chad, working alongside Basil Ivanik and Erica Lee from Thunder Road, to be our steward, guiding us and developing a joint strategy at every stage. This deal is becoming official, and we look forward to his steady hand and creative contribution not only to the film he is making, but also to other stories. He is a true visionary, and we are very glad to see him in our circle.
In the near future, "John Wick" will have a spin-off "Ballerina", which will be released on June 7. Len Wiseman directed the film, which has a cameo role of Reeves, and the main one is played by Ana de Armas. Lionsgate is also discussing the fifth film about Wick.
As for the Highlander, Stahelski has often talked about him in interviews over the years. And now he's finally at work. We are waiting for a new amazing role of Cavill and a lot of action.
