Announcing your plans reduces motivation to achieve them.
Do I need to announce my goals so that friends can support you?
Isn't it right to tell people about your projects? Doesn't the "law of attraction" mean that you have to indicate your intention and visualize the goal as if it is already yours?
No.
Tests conducted since 1933 show that people who talk about their intentions are less likely to implement them. The announcement of plans satisfies your personality just enough to make you less motivated for the required work.
In 1933, W. Mahler discovered that if a person announced a solution to a problem and received the recognition of others, then his brain recorded the situation as a "social reality", even if the solution was never actually implemented
Psychology professor Peter Gollwitzer, who has been studying this problem for a long time, recently published the results of a new test. His report says that those people who kept their intentions to themselves were more likely to achieve them than those who told other people about them. As the scientist notes, telling about his intentions gives "a premature sense of completeness."
Shut up! Announcing your plans makes you less motivated to accomplish them. [Derek Sivers]
