What to keep in mind when cleaning bathroom tiles

  • Take into account the characteristics of the coating when choosing cleaning tools. So, any tile should not be cleaned with hard metallized brushes or metal sponges. They will surely leave scratches. This will spoil the appearance of the tile, and besides, dirt will accumulate in the microcracks, and it will be difficult to wash it all. It is better to clean the relief coating with medium-hardness brushes to get to the smallest fragments of the texture.
  • Some products can have an aggressive effect on the skin, so wash the tile with rubber gloves.
  • If you use aggressive household chemicals with pungent odors, such as ammonia, vinegar or "Whiteness", protect your eyes with glasses and respiratory organs with a respirator. After the procedure, thoroughly ventilate the bathroom.

How and how to clean the tiles in the bathroom

If the chosen method did not help to clean the tile from complex impurities the first time, repeat the procedure or try another remedy.

1. Household soap

It will help to get rid of simple impurities like soap stains and fresh plaque from water. To clean rust, mold and other stubborn stains, use another option.

What you will need

  • Household soap (72%);
  • sponge;
  • warm water;
  • clean rags.

How to do

Moisten the sponge in warm water and rub it thoroughly on a bar of household soap. Apply the foam to the tile and leave for 30 minutes.

After that, walk the sponge over the coating, paying special attention to the problem areas. Wash off the remaining soap with a clean, damp cloth, and then wipe the tile dry.

2. Table vinegar

The product, which is available in almost every kitchen, copes with limescale and mold.

What you will need

  • 200 ml of table vinegar (9%);
  • water;
  • spray gun;
  • a cotton pad or a piece of cloth is optional;
  • sponge;
  • a clean cloth.

How to do

Mix vinegar with 1 liter of water. Pour the solution into a container with a spray gun and spray on the tile. If the seams are sealed with cement grout, try to apply the product to the dirt point-by-point with a cotton pad or a piece of cloth so as not to spoil the material.

Let the vinegar work for 20-30 minutes, and then remove the dirt with a sponge. Wash off the remaining product with a clean, damp cloth.

3. Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and liquid soap

Homemade detergent effectively removes most impurities, including fresh traces of rust.

What you will need

  • 170 g of baking soda;
  • 70 ml of hydrogen peroxide;
  • 1 tablespoon of liquid soap;
  • bowl;
  • sponge;
  • water;
  • clean rags.

How to do

In a deep bowl, quickly mix the baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and liquid soap. As a result of the chemical reaction, the components will begin to hiss and release a lot of oxygen foam. Apply the product on the tile and leave for 20 minutes.

Then carefully walk over the coating with a sponge, removing dirt. Wash off the remnants of the mixture with a damp cloth, and then wipe the tile dry so that there are no streaks left.

4. With ammonia

The pharmacy product not only copes with dirt, but also gives a glossy tile shine.

What you will need

  • Ammonia (10%);
  • water;
  • spray gun;
  • a rag;
  • a cotton pad is optional.

How to do

Dissolve 50 ml of ammonia in 1 liter of water. Pour the liquid into a spray bottle and spray on the tile. Leave the mixture on for 10-15 minutes, then wipe the surface with a dry cloth.

To combat mold, you can prepare a more concentrated solution by mixing ammonia with water in a ratio of 1 : 1. Apply the composition to dark spots with a cotton pad and leave for 1-2 hours. Remove any remaining dirt with a dry cloth.

5. Citric acid

This method allows you to get rid of soap stains and old lime plaque, and also returns to the tile shine.

What you will need

  • 20 g of citric acid;
  • warm water;
  • spray gun;
  • a sponge or microfiber cloth.

How to do

Dissolve citric acid in 250 ml of warm water. Pour the resulting liquid into a spray bottle and spray on the tile.

After 20 minutes, clean the surface with a sponge or microfiber cloth, and then rinse off the remaining product with a damp material.

6. "White"

Chlorine in the composition of liquid "Whiteness" is able to defeat even black mold.

What you will need

  • "Whiteness";
  • sponge or rag;
  • water.

How to do

Apply the product to the tile with a cloth or sponge and leave for 15-20 minutes. At this time, leave the bathroom and close the door.

After that, wash the tile thoroughly with a cloth and water to get rid of chlorine residues. Do not forget to ventilate the room.
