Plan for 2013: Lifetick — a service that makes a dream come true

Yesterday, a wonderful article was published in Lifehacker, giving a good reason to think and determine your life priorities. I want to continue this topic and invite you to try a new web service that will help you not only determine your main goals in life, but also achieve their fulfillment.

The Lifetick service, although it resembles a trivial task manager in functions, but in fact it is radically different from them. An ordinary to-do sheet performs the tasks of momentary planning, without trying to escape from the quagmire of routine affairs. In them, you plan and cross out thousands of different tasks, without really thinking about why you need it at all in a global sense.

Lifetick turns everything the other way around and suggests a top-down approach to planning your actions. You have to go from understanding global priorities to defining specific goals and then to practical tasks.

At the first stage, you will have to think through, identify and write down some of the most important global areas for you that you want to improve in your life. At the same time, a circle appears in front of you, divided into colored sectors corresponding to the life values you have set.

After that, we go to the level below and set the goals that you need to achieve in order to develop in the right direction. Each goal has a priority level, binding to one of the sectors of your values and (this is important!) a specific completion date. At the same time, you are asked to check each goal for compliance with the following principles:

  • Specific: Is this a specific goal?
  • Measurable: Can the achievement of the goal be measured?
  • Achievable: Can this goal really be achieved?
  • Relevant: Does this goal match your priorities?
  • Time specific: Can this goal be achieved in a given time?

And finally, at the third stage, we go down to the foot of the pyramid and define specific tasks for ourselves. Each task can be single or repetitive, have its own deadlines, notes, reminders, and so on, in a word, the full functionality of a regular task manager.

Thus, you build a chain that leads you to achieve the most important goals for you, moving from abstract desires to quite concrete actions. All entries made are displayed in your workspace as a list with a progress indicator next to each task. In addition, there are some additional features — exporting to the calendar application, keeping a diary, viewing statistics, and so on. Some of these additional features require a paid account.

So, what do we have as a result? Lifetick helps us build a kind of pyramid, where the global life priority is at the top, then specific goals follow, and then no less specific tasks follow. Thus, climbing the steps of specific cases, you achieve the dream of your whole life.

Stop dreaming, it's time to act!
