When traveling, sometimes you get more tired than you rest. An unfamiliar language, foreign traditions and attempts to find entertainment where you don't know anyone don't really help you relax. If you don't want to recover after your vacation, relax at home. You will appreciate your city in a new way and see what you usually don't notice.
You can slowly wander around the neighborhood, drink coffee slowly, go to exhibitions, have picnics in the park, wander around bookstores for hours, listen to music, dance, spend time with friends, go for long runs or just do nothing.
You will truly enjoy your free time, instead of rushing from one attraction to another in a hurry.
Instagram regulars* will find it a waste of time. A vacation at home for them is a missed opportunity to realize a dream, take a picture in an exotic place, portray relaxation against the background of attractions and cross out a few more items from the "Catch up for life" list. Of course, I want to show everyone where you have been. But the ability to relax is actually much cooler.
Don't imitate others. This is your vacation, so relax the way you like. Remember the taste of freedom and just be. Yes, it's scary. We always try to do something so as not to collide with ourselves. We secretly fear that without work and a tight schedule, we are just an empty vessel floating with the flow.
We also want to leave to experience new experiences and break the rules that we follow at home. We want to distract ourselves with strangers, unusual pictures and sounds in the hope of learning something new about ourselves.
But no matter how far you go, there is no escaping from yourself.
There is not much point in going on a trip, unless you are already in agreement with yourself. From the point of view of psychology, the more you hate the idea of relaxing at home, the more you need it. Try to reconcile with yourself. It is impossible to escape from yourself, so try to become your friend.
There is another reason to master doing nothing. It is during idleness that new ideas are often born. Scientists, writers, artists, musicians and entrepreneurs advise from time to time just to wander in the clouds. Going beyond traditional thinking and everyday worries is good for our mind.
Make a list of new experiences. Surely there are interesting places in your city where you have not been yet.
Read books or watch movies that you didn't get your hands on. Try intensive workouts or sign up for cosmetic procedures that are inconvenient to do during working hours. Start meditating. Do not log into social networks. In general, do something that has always aroused your curiosity.
Go to a good restaurant, theater or shopping. You have saved money on tickets and accommodation in another city, so why not spend it on something nice? Make clear plans or don't plan anything and enjoy the spontaneous development of events.
Think of cleaning as a spiritual practice that strengthens mental health.
We sweep away the dust to get rid of worldly desires. We scrape off the dirt to get rid of attachments. We live simply and find time to contemplate ourselves, spending every moment consciously. In today's busy world, not only monks, but everyone needs to live like this.
Cleaning is a great way to take control of your life. Put the house in order and make it the place you don't want to leave.
The main secret of a good holiday at home is just to be in the present moment, no matter what you do. This is not so easy for those who are used to a culture of constant employment. But it reduces stress and energizes.
