Some time ago, running geeks had fun — to buy a Nike+ kit (which we had mostly with discharged permanent batteries) with an iPod nano and with special Nike sneakers. Then every running geek joined the social Internet puzomerka and could compete, win, conquer the world rankings by running around his house.
But now you don't need to buy anything! If you have a phone with GPS, Internet access and the desire to walk, run or ride a bike, then you will get into the wonderful world of Internet sports from the selfless service Endomondo!
The principle of operation of the Endomondo service is very simple. You install an application on your mobile phone that calculates your movements using the built-in GPS, builds the route of your running workouts, measures speed and calculates its change in time.
Mobile software is available for many mobile platforms — I am sure that one of these phones is in your pocket:
Then register on the website and log in with the received username and password in the mobile client.
As soon as you are going to run, run the program and press the start — while running, it will calculate the speed of movement, draw a route on Google Maps in real time. And when you come home, you will be able to analyze your route.
For example, today I walked from the subway at a normal pace and ran on one section (as I wrote on our Twitter). Here's the log I got:
By the way, each run gets a unique URL :)
In addition to individual results, you can create teams and take part in tournaments, search for routes in unfamiliar places if you travel a lot, follow the champions and much more. The service is simply amazing and is available to absolutely everyone!
On the start! Attention! March.
