Returning to a healthy lifestyle: 3 main steps

After a long break, it is quite difficult to return to the slender ranks of healthy lifestyle lovers again — something constantly interferes and, most importantly, there is not enough patience to bring this difficult matter to an end again. Usually statements « Everything, from Monday I go on a diet and enroll in a sports club » and remain just loud statements. Perhaps someone still manages to get involved, and even then from the fifth time at best.

Peter Carvel, coach sixpackfactory.com he believes that in order to return to the club, you need to go through three main stages.

The main mistake of all beginners and those who have already forgotten how it is to hold a barbell in your hands and immediately rush into the pool with your head. If the diet, then immediately cancel all your favorite treats and sit on porridge or salads. If you return to training, then it means immediately and powerfully! And as a result — wild muscle pain. And it's even scary to think that you will need to lift something else, do a chest press or squat with weight.

If you want to succeed in fulfilling your plans, you need to be consistent. And just in the case of a return to a healthy lifestyle, three main stages will help. Everything is quite simple and banal. The main thing is the right approach and system.

Diet

As I said, the main mistake of beginners is to do everything at once. If you have been eating delicious, but not very healthy food for years, it will be very difficult to give it up right away. Because of this, breakdowns occur. But they get better not from the main meal, but from four cups of coffee with sugar, doughnut cookies over the same coffee in the office or a snack at twelve o'clock in the morning. If you start gradually reducing your daily norms of eating all these goodies and switch to sugar-free coffee or green tea, then it will be much easier to go on a real diet. Because you will no longer break down because of your favorite foods and you will enjoy healthy and dietary dishes with a calm soul.

Training

Another mistake of beginners or those who decided to return to the fit and slender ranks of athletes is laying out at the first training session in full. A person does not want to seem weak or be worse than others in the group, and tries to do everything on a par with others. But if your comrade-in-arms has been practicing for several years and performs exercises with a lot of weight, then you are unlikely to be able to do the same beautifully, gracefully and without harm to yourself. Usually it all ends with a wild pain in the muscles and a huge reluctance to go back to training.

I personally know a couple of ladies who for three days went to the toilet in a small way exclusively standing in the shower, as they were even afraid to think about having to sit down. Another friend of mine avoided the stairs for a week, since even the thought of having to go down already caused muscle pain.

Therefore, it would be wise to start with the simplest — with daily walks in the park or replacing the elevator with a staircase. And even better, if it will be classes with an instructor who will develop a program specifically for you.

Motivation

Motivation in this case plays the most important role. Because it is she who makes it so that we do not give up sports and diet. It reminds us of the main thing — about why we got involved in all this. Everyone has a different one. Someone does this in order to live a healthy long life and see their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Someone does this because he is corny ashamed to undress on the beach. And someone does it in order to get rid of complexes and find a soul mate. Everyone has different goals (from small to great), but they all eventually lead to the same — to a long, healthy and eventful life. It seems to me that this is the most important goal ;)
