The story of the reader's Running Injuries or The Happiness of Running — 2

Following my article Happiness to Run or lessons from a strange running injury, in which I told my story of injuries in pictures, an incredibly interesting comment by our reader Max Serduk appeared. We present it almost unchanged in the response format.

When I started running, I had a severe advantage, no special experience in cyclical loads, lack of proper shoes. But there was a simple and unclouded desire to move. And it dragged forward.

The result, like Slava's Ironman, is extremely ambiguous.

Of course, I managed to master the top ten in the cycle — it's wonderful. This gave minus fifty kilograms in a year and a half, normal hardening and pumping of the vascular system, the brain was perfectly restarted. But from the negative points — the initial stage of periosteal inflammation (Glory-style) also went, and only then — calcaneal fasciitis. Fasciitis is a nasty thing, it usually precedes the appearance of a heel spur. In the States, it is called the "heel of a policeman" — due to the fact that obese patrol cops are particularly susceptible to this disease. This stuff develops from the fact that a person cannot adequately extinguish the cyclical shock load on the heel when walking or running. And the main reason here is the weight and the complete lack of optimal running technique.

I was just starting out, without much experience and shoes. As a result, after 600 kilometers of running, the original simple crosses were finally killed.

The pain in the heel has gone from temporary to permanent, especially in the morning at the first steps. Running, of course, stopped. Of course, by this time I had already learned the correct setting of the foot when running, tried all the optimal options for unloading the heel. But, no matter how much I would like, running now turned out to be completely contraindicated.

And I went to the doctors. Some said that contrast compresses would help. Others prescribed expensive vitamins with omega-3. The third specialist prescribed an anti—inflammatory drug, from which I was later diagnosed with heart problems - a terrible incessant heaviness, and in general everything is very gloomy. There was a feeling that now it was definitely never going to run. And no one did anything special to help. Little by little, the old weight began to creep up, the old tone began to go away.

But as time went on, the body gradually put itself in order. I have studied many options and techniques of running. Fortunately, there are a lot of text materials and videos on YouTube. I revised my view of the loads as such, sternly cut into the correct approach to specialized running shoes. I realized that the best is the enemy of the good, and you need to run moderately. Do not force yourself — for the sake of likes, thumbs up or mega-results. And the vaunted omega-three is any drug based on banal fish oil, which is in bulk in any pharmacy.

And, once again, I realized that everything is fine only moderately. And then, one day, I climbed back into my favorite NB 860 crosses — and ran again. At first timidly and little by little. Then — as usual, as before. And, with a lump in his throat, he understood very well what Slava felt after the rehabilitation of his injured leg.

And also — almost sobbing.

But what are we all about? It is very important to feel the moment when amateur physical education suddenly turns into a sport — and injuries inevitably begin. It is important to realize that it is not worth running for someone or something - stupidly straining with all your being for likes and the opportunity to prove your coolness to anyone. Or neglect good shoes as a tool, running around in anything.

It's simple: to run exclusively for fun, not for ticks, without breaking or raping yourself, with a full understanding of theory and practice. To do this cyclically.

And everything should be fine.
