INFOGRAPHICS: What's new for us in Windows 8

This year Microsoft promises us the appearance of its new OS — Windows 8, which will be good for both PCs and tablets. It will be good for everyone at once — a new supertime will come! The infographic from TheTechLabs shows the main thing that should attract us in the new OS.

The picture is clickable.

Windows To Go. Now Windows 8 can be downloaded from a USB flash drive, which Linux was able to do many years ago. However, in Windows 8, both programs and user profiles will become portable. So you will be at home at any computer.

Windows Store. Now, as in Mac OSX Lion, you will be able to buy and download software from a single application store in the new Windows. I wonder how this will affect piracy.

Metro Style UI. A new type of desktop made in the form of interactive and contextual rectangles. It looks very sexy and, hopefully, will be in demand by users. They say that this feature will be the most delicious on tablets in Windows 8.

Security got better. Will Windows cease to be a feeder for antivirus manufacturers? We don't believe it!

Internet Explorer 10. The attitude of the readers of this blog to IE9 is very negative and this is not without reason. IE10 promises us even better CSS3 support, even better HTML5 support, and even more hardware acceleration. But you can always download Google Chrome and Firefox! Even with the new IE! :)

Rocketed Booting. The new Protogon file system + the new OS structure shows incredible cold boot speed on test builds, even on outright iron junk. Watch the video here: //about-everything.wiki.ru/2011/09/09/windows8-startup

Apps always ON. You don't need to restart applications and unload them to free up resources. They will sit quietly like bunnies and you can spend the time to launch them on something more interesting. By the way, this has been implemented in iOS and Mac OSX Lion for a year now. A very useful feature. We are waiting for Windows 8.

Minimal RAM. Evil tongues used to say that Microsoft was in collusion with hardware manufacturers and each new version of Windows required doubling the processor frequency and memory for normal operation. In Windows 7, it became obvious that there is no collusion and this is just speculation by malicious critics. The new Windows 8 will run on 300 MB of RAM and just fly — Microsoft's word.

Single Platform. This was not invented by Microsoft again — to combine all gadgets within a single OS, but they may do better than others. Windows 8 is an OS for a desktop PC, for a tablet, for a mobile phone and other devices. ARM and x86 microprocessors are supported on an equal footing again. We can only hope that in the depths of the company, super-marketers will not come up with 20 OS versions from Starter to Ultimate and will stop confusing the confused consumer without this.

Integrated Social Networking and Cloud. Facebook* and Twitter will be integrated in Windows 8 — goodbye productivity :) VKontakte users, exhale, this grid will not be supported. Also, Live services and the SkyDrive we like will be integrated into the new OS. Now Windows will be on the clouds, where OSX (+iOS) already lives with iCloud and Ubintu with its Ubuntu One.

Are you waiting for Windows 8 and are you ready to swap Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7 for it?
