The StatCounter GlobalStats Internet statistics portal shared StatCounter: Chrome's popularity in Russia has fallen below 50% for the first time in six years / Kommersant latest data on the popularity of browsers in Russia. Chrome is still the leader, but its performance has collapsed to a six-year low. This is followed by Yandex Browser and Safari.
According to the results of November 2023, the share of Google's service is 49.6%, which is the lowest since January 2017. For comparison: back in May 2021, it occupied 66.5% of the Russian market. However, in October of the same year, the figure dropped to 56% and never rose above this mark again.
And if you believe the data from the Yandex Radar service, then Chrome's share is even less now — 43%. It also follows from them that his popularity has never risen above 50% at all.
This decline was noted against the background of growing interest in other browsers. First of all, to the brainchild of Yandex, which now occupies 27.9% of the market, which is a peak indicator for it. The company attributes this to the integration of neural network-based functions, such as retelling of videos and articles. Apple's Safari takes the third place in popularity — 12.5%.
StatCounter GlobalStats statistics take into account the use of browsers on all platforms, without dividing into mobile devices and PCs. The service evaluates popularity by the number of visits to sites where its counter is installed, which is more than 1.5 million Internet portals around the world.
