Opera has launched the new Opera One browser. The company claims that it has the elements necessary for "a future based on AI generation." The developers do not go into details, but they told about the main changes compared to a regular browser.
The main feature was the "Islands of tabs". This is a method of automatically grouping tabs by content context. For example, if you are looking for a place to have dinner, then the tabs with menus and locations will be combined into one "island". If you work on a bunch of documents through Google, they will also come together.
Each "island" is indicated by a colored vertical line. By clicking on it, you can hide the related tabs — so that the focus is only on what you need now.
For smooth operation of tab groups and the interface as a whole, Opera One is the first among Chromium browsers to use the Multithreaded Compositor architecture. There are no details about the new AI functions, but Opera notes that the integration of chat bots ChatGPT and ChatSonic, which was announced in March for standard Opera, will be enabled by default in the browser.
So far, only the test version of browsers for developers is available for download (scroll this page to the Download Now button). But Opera plans to replace the standard browser with a new One this year for all desktop platforms.
